This
is what I need from YOU before I can start
lettering your project:
PUBLISHER/PRINTER
SPECS
* If you already have a publisher/printer
in mind, find out what their final file size
requirments are so I can turn in files you
can use at the end of the job. If you don't
know who will print your comic yet, I generally
letter at 10.5" X 7" and export
all pages as .TIF files, but all specs are
different, so make sure I have this before
I start on your job. Many
a headache will be avoided.
ART
* Again, be certain your artist
has also adhered to the publisher/printer
specifications as noted above. If possible,
I like to receive a character sheet featuring
art of all the characters to make identification
100% accurate, especially if your script doesn't
include art descriptions.
* FOR PRINT:
Black & white files should
be in Grayscale color mode
in 300 dpi resolution and sized according
to your publisher/printer specifications including
all appropriate bleeds.
Color
files should be in CMYK color
mode in 300 dpi resolution and sized according
to your publisher/printer
specifications, also with appropriate bleeds.
* FOR WEB:
Black
& white files should be in Grayscale
color mode in 300 dpi resolution.
Color
files should be in RGB color
mode in whatever resolution you are comfortable
using, though 300 or less is acceptable.
SCRIPT
* Here
is a tried & true article about creating
a comic book script. I need
something like this as a script when possible.
Sending me a page with page numbers and dialogue
only is okay, but I prefer
a full script including the same panel by
panel descriptions given to the artist. These
help me identify the characters if a characater
sheet is not provided.
* When sound effects are
necessary and you want them included, please
write them as you want them
to appear. Don't put "grunt sound"
or "gunshots". Please be
exact! You may not like the ones I come up
with on my own... plus, you're
the writer.
* Any format should work, but my favorites
are PDF, DOC
& RTF.
* It helps tremendously if you let me know
in advance if any of your script is in a foreign
language, thus requiring a font
with international characters.
DEADLINE
By when do you need the finished
job?
